Nagpur: Rashtra Sevika Samiti, women wing of RSS has lost its former Pramukh Sanchalaki Ushatai Chati. She passed away yesterday, 17 Aug 2017 in Nagpur. She was 91. Being a member in Rashtra Sevika Samiti from her childhood days, she was entrusted upon with many responsibilities in the organization and she was the Pramukh Sanchalaki (Top most responsibility) of the organization from 1994 till 2006.
The funeral procession will start from Devi Ahilya Mandir, Dhantoli, at 10.30 am on Friday.
Born on Aug 31, 1927 , Ganesha Chaturthi in Bhandara, Vidarbha, she completed her primary education there. After marriage with Gunawant Chati, also an RSS Swayamsevak, she settled in Nagpur and taught in Hindu Mulinchi Shala. She founded the Vagmita Vikas Samiti and held the post of its president for 30 years. It used to organize cultural programs for students. Ushatai was jailed during the days of Emergency in 1975
She was gifted with a sweet melodious voice and was also hosting the music programs aired in Nagpur Akashvani for quite some time.
Ushatai was awarded Rashtriya Ekatmata Puraskar By the Joshi Foundation, Vivekananda Puraskar By the Dombivali Swami Vivekananda Educational Trust and Ojaswini award from Bhopal.
